During the 2018 Summer Enrichment Program, ReBUILDetroit undergraduate scholars collected water samples at Belle Isle Park, a state park in Detroit, Michigan. They also caught and analyzed insects and fish to study the effect of water quality on the environment. The scholars are in the process of conducting their research back at the lab at University of Detroit, Mercy.

The Summer Enrichment Program provides educational and professional development experiences for underrepresented minorities (URM) and/or disadvantaged students so that they can successfully gain admission into graduate school and pursue careers in biomedical fields and the sciences.

The Diversity Program Consortium Coordination and Evaluation Center at UCLA is supported by Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health / National Institutes of General Medical Sciences under award number U54GM119024.
