American Cancer Association Medical Officer Speaks to Scholars

Dr. Otis W. Brawley, Chief Medical and Scientific Officer at the American Cancer Society, spoke to more than 120 ReBUILDetroit scholars, interested students and faculty at University of Detroit Mercy on August 4.

Dr. Brawley’s talk was entitled “What is Cancer Control” and can be viewed on the ReBUILDetroit’s YouTube channel.

ReBUILDetroit scholars had lunch with Dr. Brawley and had additional time to ask the Detroit native about his career path and cancer research.

ReBUILDetroit is a consortium of Marygrove College, University of Detroit Mercy and Wayne State University, fueling the academic renaissance of Detroit by establishing it as the center for biomedical research training for underrepresented undergraduate students.  ReBUILDetroit is made possible by a $21.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
